“You’re better off failing toward a life you actually want than finding success in a life of knowing you were meant for more. To recognize the incomprehensible depth and beauty of human life, to then hand yours over to perpetual normalcy is a decision I’ll never understand”

-Cru Mahoney

Austin is a senior at Ohio University and an Analyst in the Ohio University Student Equity Management Group (OUSEMG). He is from Youngstown, Ohio, and is double majoring in Finance and Business Analytics. Through his time in OUSEMG, Austin has gained hands-on experience with equity research and financial analysis while also learning more about how he works best in team-based, high-expectation environments. The group has played a big role in shaping his interest in risk, controls, and how large financial institutions make decisions.

During college, Austin has taken on leadership responsibilities in different organizations, including the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, which helped him grow as a teammate and communicator, especially while balancing academics with professional commitments. He enjoys working in structured settings where attention to detail matters and where strong processes help organizations operate effectively.

After graduation, Austin will begin his career at Fifth Third Bank in the Financial Audit Leadership Program (FALP). He is excited to learn from experienced professionals, gain exposure to enterprise-wide risk and financial governance, and continue building a strong foundation early in his career.

Outside of school and work, Austin enjoys golfing, playing sports, card games, watching movies, and following sports. He’s a fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Pittsburgh Pirates, Boston Celtics, and Ohio State athletics. He also enjoys traveling and hopes to explore Europe and Japan after finishing his studies.
